Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 12 August 2026

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of OccasionList (the "Platform"), operated by OccasionList ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, browsing vendor listings, or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform. Separate Vendor Terms apply to businesses listing on the Platform and should be read alongside this document. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and forms part of these Terms by reference.

1. Who we are

OccasionList is a UK-based marketplace that helps clients discover, shortlist, compare and enquire with vendors for South Asian weddings, family celebrations and cultural events. We provide discovery, enquiry and organisational tools only. We are not a party to, and do not broker, arrange or guarantee, any contract, booking, payment or agreement between a client and a vendor.

2. Definitions

  • "Client" means anyone using the Platform to search for, save, compare or enquire with vendors.
  • "Vendor" means anyone who creates a business listing on the Platform to offer event-related services.
  • "Listing" means a vendor's public profile, including all text, images, pricing, availability and other content submitted to it.
  • "Quote request" means a structured enquiry sent by a client to a vendor through the Platform.
  • "Content" means any text, image, video or other material submitted to the Platform by a Client or Vendor.

3. Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You must provide accurate information when registering and keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. Contact us immediately at support@occasionlist.com if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.

4. Vendor listings and content standards

Vendors are responsible for the accuracy of their listings, including services, pricing, capacity and availability information. Availability shown on the Platform is indicative only, the vendor's underlying calendar remains private, and all dates must be confirmed directly with the vendor before booking.

Vendors must have the necessary rights to any Content they upload, including photographs and portfolio images, and must not upload Content that infringes someone else's rights. To keep enquiries, quotes and conversations organised and safe for clients, vendor listings must not:

  • direct clients to contact the vendor outside the Platform in place of using Request a quote or Message vendor (for example, "DM me on Instagram" or posting a phone number in place of the enquiry tools);
  • contain false, misleading or discriminatory content;
  • claim a form of verification, certification or endorsement the vendor does not hold.

New vendor profiles may be reviewed before first publication. Once approved, vendors may update their profiles without further approval, though we may review changes at our discretion. We may hide, suspend, unpublish or remove listings, in whole or in part, that appear incomplete, misleading, inappropriate or in breach of these Terms, and may ask a vendor to amend content before republishing.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Platform. This includes, without limitation, not to:

  • impersonate another person or business, or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone;
  • scrape, harvest or systematically extract Platform content or data without our written consent;
  • post unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory or misleading material;
  • attempt to interfere with, disable or compromise the security or proper functioning of the Platform;
  • use the Platform to send unsolicited marketing or spam to other users.

6. Fees

Use of the Platform by clients is free. Vendor listings are currently offered free of charge as part of our launch period. We reserve the right to introduce fees, commission or paid features for vendors in future. Where we do, we will give existing vendors reasonable advance notice, and continued use of the Platform after any fee takes effect constitutes acceptance of it. We do not process payments between clients and vendors; all such payments are arranged directly between the two parties.

7. Content licence

You retain ownership of the Content you submit to the Platform. By submitting Content, you grant OccasionList a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce and adapt that Content for the purpose of operating the Platform, and to use it for promotional purposes connected with OccasionList, including on our website and social media channels, with reasonable attribution to you or your business where practical. You may request that we stop using specific Content for promotional purposes by contacting support@occasionlist.com, and we will do so within a reasonable time, save for Content already published or shared prior to that request.

8. Reviews

Reviews published on the Platform must reflect a genuine experience of the reviewer. We do not permit fake, incentivised-but-undisclosed, or misleading reviews, and we take reasonable and proportionate steps, consistent with our obligations under UK consumer protection law, to detect and address them, including:

  • limiting who is eligible to leave a review — profile views, saves and simple messages alone do not create review eligibility;
  • distinguishing an ordinary review from a "Verified booking" review, which is linked to stronger booking evidence recorded or confirmed through the Platform, such as an accepted quote or a booking confirmed by both client and vendor;
  • monitoring, investigating and removing reviews that appear fake, abusive, defamatory, incentivised without disclosure, or unrelated to a genuine interaction on the Platform.

Vendors may report a review for our assessment but may not delete or edit a client's review themselves. We do not selectively publish or suppress genuine reviews in a way that would misrepresent a vendor's overall feedback.

9. Vendor indemnity

Vendors agree to indemnify and hold OccasionList harmless against any claim, loss, liability or expense (including reasonable legal costs) arising from: (a) the vendor's services, products, conduct or any contract between the vendor and a client; (b) Content the vendor submits to the Platform, including any infringement of a third party's rights; or (c) the vendor's breach of these Terms or any applicable law.

10. Suspension, removal and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account, or hide, unpublish or remove a listing or other Content, at any time where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached, the Content is inaccurate or misleading, or continued access poses a risk to other users or to the Platform. Where practical, we will give notice and a reason. You may close your account at any time by contacting support@occasionlist.com.

11. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OccasionList is not liable for losses arising out of any contract, booking, transaction or interaction between a client and a vendor, or for the accuracy of vendor-submitted Content. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death, personal injury or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Complaints and disputes

If you have a complaint about the Platform, a listing or another user, contact support@occasionlist.com and we will look into it. Disputes about a booking, contract or payment are between the client and vendor directly; we may assist by sharing relevant Platform records but are not responsible for resolving the underlying dispute. UK consumers may also be entitled to use an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) service in relation to a dispute with a vendor; details of accredited ADR providers can be found via the Chartered Trading Standards Institute.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Platform or our legal obligations. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app notice with reasonable advance notice where practical. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
